Sack
Trick Live at the Peel, Kingston

Then there came the beast collectively known as Sack Trick. Eerie whistling noises, darkly intoned gothic storyline, scary stuff. And then you realize that the guitarist is making penguin noises. This would be the guitarist with no trousers, not to be mistaken with the bassist in the yellow cagoule and sequined right arm. Oh dear, very silly people alert, fan-fucking-tastic. Throughout the set we are treated to the knowledge that the moon is indeed made of cheese and that there are penguins living on it and even more bizarrely that your maths teacher may have had words of wisdom to impart. They also treat us to the best onstage quote of the night... "ladies and gentlemen there is a reason for two drummers on the stage, it is a very silly reason and this is it" before launching in to a simply fantastic twin drum solo.
So Sack Trick are a comedy band but the catch is they’re actually funny and the tunes are good and make you want to jump up and down whilst smiling in an inane manner. Even though they’re pissing around they don’t treat the audience to any form of half hearted shambles. With lightning fast guitar, galloping bass and a phenomenal dual drum racket this band could go far, but they sing songs about frozen desserts, so they won’t. Judging by the amount of grinning however this is exactly the way they and indeed we want it.
