With only one weeks notice Sack Trick's international debut was arranged. The historic gig was held at the small two-day festival "Musikfesten Tullakrok" in Ängelholm in the south of Sweden. Although unknown to us the festival has apperently been running for 26 years and it was a nice, relaxed and intimate festival. We approximated the number of attendants to somewhere round 1000 which probably is just about the capacity of the venue, a small meadow.
As
the only Non-Swedish band on the bill the band made a great impact on the much
suprised audience. Our guess is that not more than 10 people out of the
approximated 500 in front of the stage had heard any of the records, or even
heard of the band at all, previous to the gig. But people were dancing and
cheering within minutes anyway.
The trio, Chris Dale, Robin Guy, Chris Nubile with additional
"percussionist", dancer and record salesman Joe performed a brilliant
45 minute set. Judging from the audience reaction the only "low point"
(if you could say there was any) was "Hiring Camels" but apart from
that and a technical mishap with the guitar there was no stopping them.
You can spot an experienced band, a band with a lot of gigging under their belt,
right away. They were relaxed, tight and, first and foremost, not afraid of
facing the audience! Sack Trick are bursting with experience. It doesn't matter
if the audience haven´t heard or seen the band before, the music and the
performance is so natural and direct. Even an audience at an old peoples home
would stand up and dance to Sack Trick! Book this band at festivals and
children’s parties all over Europe and they will soon become firm favourites
of many.
